ART BY KYNAN ANTOS | Painting & Drawing

BIO

1976 born in Los Angeles, California / Lives and works in Seattle Washington (WA), USA

Developing a documented visual language of natural movement, points to an accelerated advancement, of a global consciousness/ culture. Antos’ work first gained critical acclaim for his 2001 exhibition entitled, "SkinDeep" which was featured in Resonance Magazine. The work was compared with "Superflat" innovator, Takashi Murakami, and Antos was said to, "make art in the genre of British painter, Gary Hume."

More recently, Antos’ exhibit "KnitWear," grappled with the concepts of, "Potential Energy, within purely static graphic elements." The social assumptions generated by presenting imagery from a concise era (women’s knitted fashion from 1962 - 1968.)

Kynan utilizes his own documented, language and imagery, of natural movement, which lends itself nicely to what he terms "an accelerated advancement of a global consciousness or culture." His paintings reflect an evolution toward communicating graphically.

Antos’ work has been featured in Resonance Magazine, Tablet Newspaper, Rivet Magazine, The Seattle Times and is collected nationally; ranging from Boeing’s corporate headquarters to private collections in New York, Los Angeles, Seattle and Alaska.

STATEMENT

I Develop and document a visual language of natural movement, which points to an accelerated progression, of a global consciousness/ culture.

My creative development process is based upon three basic principles:

1. I develop a visual language of natural movement.

2. This language will evolve only toward directness and clarity.

3. The material with which the work is constructed, must be suberserviant to the works meaning and purpose.

The final result should speak directly to indivduals about life, not to their knowledge of art.

I create work that is accessible and relevant, the most modern visual representation possible.

It is my intent to invoke awareness of natural movement and it's visual effects.

My inspiration comes from my life experiences.
